Configurable cancellation strategies on the subscription plan level

This is great for subscriptions where your customers have entitlements that they need to retain access to, for example special membership benefits in your store. Firmhouse now supports two strategies:

Cancel immediately

Subscriptions end as soon as cancellation is confirmed (after any minimum commitment period). Confirmation emails and cancellation webhooks are triggered as usual.

Cancel at the end of the billing and commitment period

Customers can initiate cancellation at any time, but the subscription stays active through the current billing and commitment period. When both are complete, the subscription is automatically cancelled and relevant notifications/webhooks are sent.

In practice, this means:

  • Firmhouse automatically handles cancellations based on your plan configuration and the active commitments of your customers.

  • Customers keep access and billing continues until both billing and commitment period are set to end.

  • Subscribers can view their cancellation status in the Self Service Center and undo a cancellation if they change their mind

With this feature, it gives you more control over cancellation behavior, clearer expectations for customers, and fewer manual adjustments to ensure the right billing and service experience.
