We’re now 3 weeks in since we announced the second edition of Firmhouse Venture Lab and I have a lot of interesting news to share.
We’re adding partner investors who partner with us during the program. Aside from Diederik Dolk, Paul Bakker and myself we can also welcome UNIIQ, JIT Investments and Arches Capital. Next to the committed tickets from Firmhouse, they’re looking for promising start-ups that meet their selection criteria for investing. Their team will be helping the participants get investor ready during the program.
We’re in progressed talks with several other investors as well. In this way the chances of getting investment increase tremendously for the participants.
We’re seeing a steady flow of applications since we’ve started promoting the program. We’re also happy about the quality. It’s a good mix of people with all sorts of traits, skills and in some cases very specific domain expertise in topics such as medtech, applied materials, artificial intelligence and blockchain. It’s quite a diverse crowd and we’re already seeing potential matches!
Just in case you’re considering to apply, here are again a list of reasons when and why you should do so:
Firmhouse Venture Lab is the only program in which you have the flexibility — but not the obligation- to change your mind while in the program.
If you thought your idea was great, but it’s not working out there will be plenty of others around you who are happy to take you in. We actually encourage you to keep your options open a little longer, so you can weigh your opportunity cost before committing to anything definitively.
Also, at the end of the program you can either help us set up your company, take the investment and/or walk away altogether, no strings attached.
We’re expecting to invite around 50 applicants to our selection weekend. Since this is much more then the actual 12 we’ll be selecting we want that weekend to be valuable even if you won’t be selected.
The weekend will be organised in such a way that we encourage to meet like minds and helping each other, so even if you’re not selected you might have met your potential co-founder already.
Also, Firmhouse has gained a lot of experience educating founders on topics such as Lean Startup and converting that to practical advice for you to take home and accelerate your idea into a healthy business. During the weekend we’ll share that with you as we see fit through a combination of short workshops, some coaching, support, our tools and ample time to work on stuff in ad-hoc teams.
The application form can be found here. The deadline is October 31st.
